Tree Preservation Orders
TPO records are aggregated from local planning authority open data: the planning.data.gov.uk national dataset, authority ArcGIS/WFS/GeoJSON endpoints, and data released to us under the Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations. Coverage varies by authority — see the authority list for what we hold. TPO data is indicative: the legal record is always the order held by the authority that made it.

Conservation areas
Conservation-area boundaries come from the planning.data.gov.uk national compiled dataset, which combines data supplied directly by planning authorities with Historic England's national compilation. The dataset's own guidance applies: it is indicative, not definitive — coverage does not yet include every English authority, and the designating authority holds the legal record.

Accuracy
We refresh live sources weekly to monthly and state a data snapshot date on authority pages where the source is a one-off release. If you spot an error, tell us — and before carrying out tree work, always confirm with the planning authority.
